Frequently Asked Questions:

What Type of Massage Does Anna Offer?

As Lake Oswego’s leading specialist in Headache and TMJ Pain Relief, Anna takes a whole-body, therapeutic approach to care. Each session is thoughtfully customized, drawing from her training as a Licensed Massage Therapist and Orthopedic Massage specialist. With expertise in Deep Tissue Massage, Myofascial Release, and Trigger Point Therapy, she is skilled at addressing both chronic pain and acute discomfort.

Anna’s true specialty lies in her advanced Intra-Oral (Buccal) Massage, a highly effective technique for TMJ-related pain, tension headaches, and facial tightness. While she also helps clients with back pain, joint issues, and mobility concerns, it’s her focused work in headaches and TMJ disorders that sets her practice apart. Experience a higher level of care — and lasting relief.

What Is Orthopedic Massage?

Unlike a general spa massage, Orthopedic Massage is a goal-oriented treatment designed to address specific pain or mobility concerns. It integrates targeted techniques to improve function, reduce discomfort, and support the body’s natural healing process. This approach often works best as part of a comprehensive care plan, in collaboration with your other healthcare providers.

What Is Intra-Oral Massage?

Intra-Oral (Buccal) Massage is a specialized technique for TMJ relief. Using a gloved hand, Anna gently works inside the mouth to reach the medial and lateral pterygoid muscles — areas that are often at the root of jaw tension and pain. Clients frequently recognize the connection immediately and many feel noticeable relief after just one session.

What Is TMJ / TMJD / TMD?

The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) connects the jawbone (mandible) to the skull (temporal bone) and is responsible for complex movements like chewing and speaking. When the joint is strained or misaligned, it can cause headaches, jaw pain, clicking or popping, difficulty chewing, locking, and even tinnitus. This condition is often referred to as TMJD (Temporomandibular Joint Disorder) or more recently TMD (Temporomandibular Disorder).
